In his 8th year as Head Soccer Coach at Solorio, Coach Adrian Calleros has turned the Sun Warriors one of the premier programs in the city of Chicago. In 2017, he led Solorio to the IHSA 2A State Championship, only the 3rd CPS team to accomplish the feat in state history. In 2018, the Sun Warriors captured the 2018 Chicago Public League Championship with a thrilling OT win over Washington.
At Solorio, he has won conference championships in 2011, 2013, 2014, and 2015. His teams have made the city semifinals (2013, 2017) and quarterfinals (2014), While also making a deep state playoff run in 2015 when they won IHSA Regional and Sectional Championships.
Prior to Solorio, Calleros coached 7 years at Mt. Carmel HS where he won 5 Catholic League Championships, 6 IHSA Regional Championships, 2 IHSA Sectional Championships, and 1 Super-Sectional Championship. In 2003, he was named IHSSCA Coach of the Year.
Why did you get into coaching?
"I just have always loved the game and quickly began to enjoy teaching the game and teaching how to play it the right way."
What are your goals for your program/team?
" To play high level soccer in preperation for the collegiate level."
What is your favorite part of coaching at Solorio?
"Building relationships with Solorio's student athletes. seeing the maturation from boys to young men."
