GIRLS SOCCER | Varsity

Head Coach: Greta Kringle

Email: gmkringle@cps.edu

Program Conference Championships: 2012 (3rd Division South), 2013 (3rd Division South), 2014 (2nd Division South), 2018 (1st Division South)

Coach Kringle has played competitive soccer all through her life. At the high school level, Kringle played 4 years of varsity soccer and year-round premier level club soccer in Minnesota where she competed in the State Finals. Kringle continued her soccer career into college, where she played defense for the Carleton College women's varsity team.

During her 4-years at Carleton, the women's soccer team won the MIAC conference championship every year and went on to finish in the elite eight in the Division III NCAA tournament in 2007.

After college, Kringle was determined to continue her involvement with competitive soccer and took on a role as a youth soccer coach for the St. Paul City Soccer Club in Minnesota.

In 2014, Kringle took on her first high school level coaching position as the head coach for the sophomore level girls' team at Eric Solorio Academy High School. She took over the varsity program in 2016, and led the program to a conference championship in 2018, along with promotion to the Chicago Public League Premier Division.

Getting to know Coach Kringle:

Why did you get into coaching?

"I had an amazing coach for both my high school and college teams (yes, same coach for both!), who inspired me to get into coaching. This coach had a huge influence on my growth as a person - character, focus, perseverance, competitiveness and kindness. This coach pushed our team hard, but knew how to keep us together as a supportive family. I hope to build a program at Solorio that can offer these experiences and personal growth to our young athletes!"

What are your goals for you program/team?

"My main goal for the girls soccer program is to develop the character, mentality and athleticism of all of our players. Winning and championships are always sweet, but I am happiest if I have a team that shows up, works their hardest, focuses on improvement of the team, and learns to work with and for others. I hope lessons they learn on and off the field with our team translate to the rest of their lives."

What is your favorite part of coaching at Solorio?

"My favorite part about coaching at Solorio is getting to work with our wonderful student-athletes toward the common goal of getting better every day."
