Merriam scores twice in draw with Loyola
Adriana Merriam scored a pair of goals Monday as Evanston’s girls soccer team played Loyola Academy to a 2-2 draw.
The Wildkits, now 3-0-1 on the season, were out-possessed for most of the contest and fell behind 1-0 in the second half. But Merriam scored twice, in the 73rd minute on feeds from Lily Shure and Jocelyn Leigh, and again in the 76th minute to stake the undefeated Kits to a 2-1 lead.
Loyola’s Emily Pikarski scored on a penalty kick with just 39 seconds remaining in the game to force the deadlock. The Ramblers are now 1-2-2 on the season.
