The Griffins traveled to Freeburg for the 24-team cross country invitational on Saturday, 9/24/22.
The Lady Griffins trophied in 5th place behind 2A Waterloo, 1A Breese Mater Dei, 1A Duquoin, and 2A Triad. Scoring 142 points, Elena Rybak finished 2nd i 17:54 (season best), Kaitlyn Hatley 5th in 18:44, Jane Cummins 21st in 20:36, Alyssa Terhaar season best of 21:52 (40th), and Sofia Luna season best of 23:54. 150 runners in the race.
The varsity boys raced to 6th place (third 1A school), just out of the trophies; Liam Schmidt ran a personal record (PR) of 17:34 for 30th, close behind in 38th was Liam Boeving in 17:52 (PR), and Connor Schmidt raced to a PR of 18:09 in 59th, with Riley Strack in 54th, Evan Rybak 74th, Levi Huber 79th, and Nolan Shearer 88th. 175 runners in the race.
The JV boys captured 3rd place (trophy) with Aidan Schmidt finished 9th overall with a PR 19:43, and Colin Moore (13th) both medalist. Jamison Kohlberg finished 22nd, Lyle Biermann 26th, Wyatt Biermann 33rd, and Jaskson Ehrman with a huge PR in 38th at 21:57.
The running Griffins are back in action 9/29/22 at the Robinson Invitational.
