SJO High School Student Council 2019-2020
Meeting schedule: We will hold meetings every-other Tuesday, in the library, from 7:25-8am. Show please, by 7:25 so we might start in a timely fashion. Special meetings may be planned for other occasions, so stay informed! HOCO week 2019: September 23-28
SJO Student Council Important Events (all in commons)
August 4: Fall Planning- All council, 12:30-2pm. Food provided, brainstorming w/committees
Jan 18: Winter/Spring Planning- All council, 6-8pm. Food provided, brainstorming w/committees
April 23: Spring Membership Banquet. Awards, dinner, year-end video scrapbook. All members 6-7pm
KDASC (Kickapoo District Association of Student Councils) *NOTE: to retain membership, plan on attending at least two of the following KDASC OR IASC events total):
Sept. 14: The Fall Picnic -This is a chance to be outside, and play our favorite leadership building games. To be hosted by SJO from 10:30am-1pm. Charity: Courage Connection
Oct. 16: Halloween Dance - Bring your costumes, dance skills, and leadership talent, to this anticipated district event. To be hosted by Unity from 6:30-9pm Charity: Times Center
Nov 21: The Fall Retreat - Meet KDASC officers, 9:30am-1pm. Hosted by Mahomet- Charity: Salt & Light
Jan. 15: The Winter Retreat - This is a winter getaway, come make new friends, learn about leadership and enjoy group activities- during school day. To be hosted by Armstrong--. Charity: Humane Society
Feb. 12: Hospitality Night - A chance to get away from school/homework to play some great games! To be hosted by Rantoul- from 6:30-9pm. Charity: Cunningham Children’s Home & Let it Be Us
March 7: District Convention – This is when we elect our new KDASC officers. Hosted by Shiloh! Will be from 8:30am to 2pm. Location TBA (likely I-Hotel) Charity: Mills Blankets
IASC (Illinois Association of Student Council)
Oct 17 Drive-in workshop, "Dragonfly" Sleepy Creek Vineyards. 9am- 1:30pm Hosted by Oakwood.
October 18: Postmark deadline for Honor Delegate applications, DGL, Roundtable moderator, recorder, Constitution Com, Credentials Com, Honor Book Evaluation Com, Hall of Ideas, and Service Projects
December 1: Deadline for 2020-2021 IASC Officer Applications
Jan 18: Candidate Interviews & IASC Board Mtng (IHSA Office, Bloomington)
May 7-9: IASC State Convention, Wyndham Hotel, Springfield, Il.
