About Us
WCS, a ministry of the Westminster Presbyterian Church, exists to provide a high quality, Christ-centered, academic education to the children of believing parents in the greater Elgin area. The school was founded in 1978 and is located on 22 acres at the western edge of Elgin, just past Randall Road. A new high school wing was completed in 1999, and a facility to house junior high classroom space and a multi-functional gymnasium was completed in February of 2004 which "brought everyone home" onto one campus and finally gave WCS sports teams a long awaited "home court advantage." Westminster Christian High School's first senior class graduated in June of 1997.
The instructional programs at WCS are traditional, teacher-directed, Christ -centered, core academic that use materials selected to reach goals and objectives developed by teachers and board committees through proper needs assessments. The program also includes instruction in art, music, computers, and physical education. The instructional program is defined as college preparatory with graduation requirements that exceed state prescriptions.
