About Us

The school is located in Manilus, IL which is about 5 miles north of I-80 on Illinois Route 40. The school is home to 320 students and houses a 1,800 seat gymnasium, and 750 seat performing arts auditorium. It is the first school in the state of Illinois to be powered by a wind turbine.
 
Bureau Valley High School provides many academic opportunities for its students. The entire campus is state-of-the-art with cable, audio/video equipment built into every classroom, overhead projectors and SmartBoards in most of the classrooms, and WiFi internet access throughout the building. Students have the opportunity to take dual-credit college courses through Sauk Community College, AP math and English classes, and vocational classes through Whiteside Area Career Center in addition to the regular high school curriculum.
 
Bureau Valley High School has a long, proud history in sports. The school belongs to the Three Rivers Athletic Conferences and TRAC 15 and offers its students many opportunities to participate in competitive sports. Since the district’s formation in 1995, the sports teams have brought home one state football championship, made several visits to the state basketball tournament, and won numerous tournaments and conference meets in all of its sports programs.
